Name Change to National Catholic Church of North America

July 16 2007

Effective immediately after a vote by the clergy of the church the name of this organization has been changed from Catholic Church in America to the National Catholic Church of North America.

In August of 2006 the Catholic Church in America and the National Catholic Church of North America merged and continued to function as the Catholic Church in America. However, due to legal issues the church could not easily continue under the name Catholic Church in America. Given this, the majority of the clergy of the church gathered at an emergency decided along with the College of Bishops to revert to the use of National Catholic Church of North America.

The Canons of the Church and all offices will continue, as will our Presiding Bishop the Most Reverend Lionel Joseph White with the new organizational name.
